【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversbrickintendedforuseinmasonryandsupplyingstructuralorfacingcomponents,orboth,tothestructure.1.2Thepropertyrequirementsofthisspecificationapplyatthetimeofpurchase.Theuseofresultsfromtestingofbrickextractedfrommasonrystructuresfordeterminingconformanceornonconformancetothepropertyrequirements(Section)ofthisspecificationisbeyondthescopeofthisspecification.1.3Thebrickareprismaticunitsavailableinavarietyofsizes,textures,colors,andshapes.Thisspecificationisnotintendedtoprovidespecificationsforpavingbrick(seeSpecificationC902).1.4Brickaremanufacturedfromclay,shale,orsimilarnaturallyoccurringearthysubstancesandsubjectedtoaheattreatmentatelevatedtemperatures(firing).Theheattreatmentmustdevelopafiredbondbetweentheparticulateconstituentstoprovidethestrengthanddurabilityrequirementsofthisspecification(seefiring,firedbond,andincipientfusioninTerminologyC43).1.5Brickareshapedduringmanufacturebymolding,pressing,orextrusion,andtheshapingmethodisawaytodescribethebrick.1.6Threetypesofbrickineachoftwogradesarecovered.1.7Thetextofthisspecificationreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.8Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
