【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedforresearch,development,qualitycontrol,productspecifications,andmaybeusedforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentsoftextilefibers.However,cautionisadvisedsinceinformationonbetween-laboratoryprecisionislacking.Comparativetestsasdirectedin5.1.1maybeadvisable.5.1.1Iftherearedifferencesofpracticalsignificancebetweenreportedtestresultsfortwolaboratories(ormore),comparativetestsshouldbeperformedtodetermineifthereisastatisticalbiasbetweenthem,usingcompetentstatisticalassistance.Asaminimum,testsamplesthatareashomogenousaspossible,drawnfromthematerialfromwhichthedisparatetestresultswereobtained,andrandomlyassignedinequalnumberstoeachlaboratoryfortesting.Thetestresultsfromthetwolaboratoriesshouldbecomparedusingastatisticaltestforupaireddata,ataprobabilitylevelchosenpriortothetestingseries.Ifabiasisfound,eitheritscausemustbefoundandcorrected,orfuturetestresultsforthatmaterialmustbeadjustedinconsiderationoftheknownbias.Thistestmethodprovidesobjectivemeasurementsfordeterminingtheaveragefiberlengthandlengthdistributioninasampleoffiber.Thestaplelengthdiagramofafibersamplecanbeusedtodeterminetherelativenumberoffibersaboveandbelowaspecifiedlength.Ifafiberistoolong,itwillnotprocesswellinspinning,andifthereisapreponderanceofshortfibers,theyarnmighthavelowerthannormalbreakingstrength.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofaveragestaplelengthandstaplelengthdistributionofbothmanufacturedandnaturalfibersbymanuallymeasuringsinglefiberlengths.Thistestmethodisalsousedtomeasurethelengthoffibersremovedfromastapleyarn,butsuchameasurementmaynotrepresentthefiber''sstaplelength,asmanufactured.1.2Becausethistestmethodrequiresmeasuringthelengthofonly50fibers,itisnotsuitableforuseindeterminingthenumberoflongfibersthatoccurinfrequentlyinasample.Note18212;Fordeterminationforoverlengthfibers,refertoTestMethodD3513.Note28212;Formethodscoveringthedeterminationoftheaveragelengthandlengthdistributionofnaturalfibers,refertothefollowingmethods:forcotton,TestMethodD1440,andTestMethodD1447,forwool,TestMethodD519,TestMethodD1234,andTestMethodD1575.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
